WA State Midterm Elections 2022 is Tuesday November 8th

WA State Midterm Elections

Are you, your family and friends registered to vote?

Midterm elections come nearly two years into a president’s 4 year term, hence the name midterm.

The big deal with midterm elections is the two chambers of Congress: the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives. Members of the House are elected for a two year term, meaning that all members of the house will be voted on. Senators are elected to staggered six-year terms, meaning that one third of the members of Senate will be voted on.

Election Day is observed on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, taking place on Tuesday November 8th this year.

Important WA State Midterm Elections 2022 Dates:

9/22-23:  Military and overseas ballots mailed out
10/8-14:  Voters’ Pamphlet mailed by Secretary of State’s office
10/20-21:  Local ballots mailed
10/31:  Last day for voters to register or update voter information online
11/8:  Election Day: Last day for voters to submit their ballot
11/29:  County canvassing boards certify county election results

You can register to vote, and vote in-person, up to 8:00 PM on Election Day at your County Elections’ Office (see below for more information).

Ballots must be postmarked no later than Election Day. Please check with your local Post Office to clarify the last pickup of the day. State Law requires a ballot must have a postmark on or before Election Day. If a ballot is received with a postmark on it that is after Election Day, it can not be counted. ADA compliant ballot drop boxes are available 24-hours per day from the time ballots are mailed to voters. They will close promptly at 8:00 PM on election night.
