October is truly an amazing time to visit Lynnwood. Especially if you like PUMPKINS! Snohomish Valley is considered THE Pumpkin Capital of the Northwest.  The Snohomish Valley Festival of Pumpkins brings together seven pumpkin farms full of the orange orbs throughout October, so you are virtually guaranteed to find that perfect, amazing, one of a kind jack-o-lantern-to-be. There are also several corn mazes to navigate your way through by day or, if you dare,  explore them by night as the farms get awfully spooky as zombies, ghosts and ghouls take over the evening entertainment. This one of a kind collective is the perfect way to celebrate the season of the winter squash.

If you are looking for a bit of old-timiness this fall, pay a visit to Bob’s Corn & Pumpkin Farm Country Store in Snohomish. From August – October, Bob’s has lots of great fall family fun, including the ubiquitous corn maze and pumpkin patch. As the name implies, Bob’s also has amazing sweet corn, picked fresh from the field and roasted in his giant corn roaster. In addition, there is  lots of other fresh as cab be produce and honey sourced        right at the farm. If you are want pre-burn off some of that Halloween candy in advance, sign up for the Snohomish River Run, which starts in downtown Snohomish and gives runners a choice of a 10k or half-marathon course. Enjoy the gorgeous fall scenery as you run along the Snohomish River and through the area farmlands with the Cascasde Mountains providing a perfect autumn backdrop.

If lifting a glass is more your speed, the Vino Around the Village takes place in Bothell’s Country Village on October 22nd, giving fans of the grape a chance to taste wonderful Italian wines while enjoying the quaint and unique shops. Bring your own glass and fill ‘er up! If beer is your beverage of desire, the 6th Annual Snohomish Brewfest inhabits the weekend before Halloween on October 28-29. Enjoy wonderful samplings of local breweries and live music and give your tummy a treat with the famous Snohomish Brewfest Sausage Dinner.

Of course, just being outside is the best celebration of fall. Lynnwood has a number of park with play areas, athletic fields, miles and miles of trails to explore the great Washington outdoors by foot or by bike. Enjoy the colors of fall as you enjoy the mild temperatures in the crisp, clean air.
